What is considered to be an inapropriate friendship with an ALF resident as an employee?

I am a CNA for a local ALF, & I have become friends with a resident who is completely competent & functioning. He's only there because he recently had back surgery & the owners are his niece & nephew in law. This friendship has never been anything inapropriate, but he wants to leave & he is not on good terms with his family so he asked if I would drive him to a hotel he plans to stay at until he moves out of state. I have no inclination he's lying, I'm just a tad worried that if my boss finds out, that could be a conflict of interest. I've considered changing my mind, I'm not very comfortable with the idea, I was just curious about any legal matter, if any, that I would've had to deal with.
