Can't remember name of movie?

A few years ago I watched this movie on AMC where a middle aged man driving home from work, down on his luck, witnessed and assisted around 50 plane crash passengers and he lost his shoe while doing this and a very rich lady he saved found his shoe and offered a million dollar reward on the person with the other matching shoe and the "hero" was very greedy and selfish and nobody believed him when he went to claim the offer...I'm assuming this movie was made in the 80s? Does anybody have any idea what this movie is? I seen this when I was around 7 years old...
